Field House Addition to Expand Training & Athletic Space and Create a Modern Student Entrance / Bus Drop Off
After discussion with District and Shepard High School stakeholders, it was determined more athletic and training space was desired. JP Architects designed a field house addition and new School entry / atrium at Shepard High School.
The field house addition equips CHSD 218 with facilities to support a wide range of athletic activities, including basketball, volleyball, and indoor track, along with dedicated spaces like weight rooms and batting cages. The facility is designed for functionality and comfort -- all while maintaining the District's budgetary expectations. The new atrium / lobby and connection to existing building provides the District with additional gathering spaces for students and the community. Enhanced outdoor traffic flow and an expanded corridor provide improved building access. This facility not only opens up new opportunities for students but also strategically positions the District to serve its stakeholders and communities for years to come.
This is a view of the new entry into the building, lobby area for the field house, bus drop off, and weight room. The goal of this addition was to address several District priorities including added athletic and training space, community gathering space, and alleviating bus traffic with a dedicated drop off area.
This birdseye view of the the field depicts the entire scope of the new field house. While budget was a major emphasis for design, quality was maintained to the highest of standards. School branding, colors, and finishes were important to the District and that is reflected throughout the space.
