A Modern Home for Administration, Counseling, and Student Services
For many years, Richards High School's administrative offices were located at the rear of the building, making them less accessible and a slight safety concern to students, families, and visitors entering the school. Recognizing an opportunity to improve both functionality and the visitor experience, the District sought to relocate key student support services to a more prominent and accessible location at the front of the campus.
JP Architects worked with the District to transform a former small theater space adjacent to the main entrance into a modern administrative suite housing administration, counseling, health services, and attendance functions. Strategically positioned near the school's primary entry, the new layout improves security, streamlines visitor access, and creates a centralized hub for student support services.
The renovated space was designed to provide a comfortable and professional office environment while celebrating the pride and traditions of Richards High School. School branding, modern finishes, custom flooring patterns, and thoughtfully integrated graphics establish a strong sense of place throughout the facility. At the entrance, historical displays and Bulldog-themed design elements create an inviting experience that honors the school's legacy and fosters pride among students, staff, alumni, and visitors.
To maximize the District's investment, JP Architects recommended a Design-Bid-Build delivery approach that generated significant cost savings while maintaining the project's vision and quality. The resulting efficiencies allowed the District to expand the scope of work and complete the attendance office as part of the project. The renovated administrative suite modernizes the interior appearance of the school while providing an efficient, welcoming, and student-centered environment that will serve the Richards community for years to come.
