Empowering Students, Stakeholders, & Performers with a State-of-the-Art Theatre Experience

JP Architects designed a theatre renovation at Shepard High School. In an effort to establish equity across all District facilities, this upgrade provided Shepard students, staff, and performers with a modern, state-of-the-art performance theater and all support spaces; including, dressing rooms, orchestra pit, scene shop and more. The space was designed for ADA compliance from audience to performer, including regrading of entire seating area and creative solutions for the lift and stairs to the orchestra pit. The District's priority was to increase seating capacity and modernize the space from its original design. To do this, it was necessary to add balcony seating, which required the installation of an elevator and placement of a new staircase. These two details allowed us to create a pre-event lobby and gathering space. 

These facilities provide students with new opportunities and position the District to serve its stakeholders and communities for many years into the future. JP Architects worked with the District to conceptualize a solution that achieved District goals. We provided the District with creative design details that resulted in aesthetically-pleasing, functional, and on-budget facility.
