JP Architects, Ltd. was engaged by a Chicagoland mental health practice to conceptualize a mental health services office space solution inside an existing building. The program included a waiting and reception area, multiple office suites, administrative space, bathrooms, kitchen, and storage. While the floor plan was simple and functional, the proposed finishes and interior design bring the space to life and create a warm and therapeutic practice.

Meaningful mental health facility design can help establish an environment that is calming for patients and promotes healing and recovery.

At JP Architects, we listen to our partners, guide them through the design process and help bring their vision into reality. The goal for this mental health services facility design was to avoid an institutional-feel by developing a spa-like environment with Asian-inspired cultural elements and artifacts. It was also important for JP Architects to be aware of mental health facility specific design details like sound proofing and privacy considerations. All in all, we provided our partner with multiple floor plan options and two interior elevations to allow them to visualize the space.

JP Architects, Ltd. understands mental health practice design, and while there is (still) a stigma surrounding mental health (although it is becoming less), we believe design can support and expedite the movement to end the stigma.
